The ArtsCenter makes the arts available to elementary and middle school artists each and every day Carrboro Chapel Hill Schools are in session! This is not only our promise, it is our commitment to inspiring the community we serve!
Is your artist a 2nd grader who is interested in sewing, collaging, ceramics, or hip hop dance? Are you a teen interested in making hip hop beats, directing music videos and documentary films, or learning the art of spoken word? The ArtsCenter has something every day for every one!

Grades K-5 (Elementary)
AfterSchool Arts Immersion (AAI): Full and Part-Time AfterSchool Program for grades k-5
AfterSchool Arts Immersion (AAI) is the area’s ONLY arts-based afterschool program featuring part and full-time enrollment options for young artists in grades k-5. AAI features 2-week and month-long residencies taught by local professional teaching artists. AAI also supplies transportation from select elementary schools, a healthy daily snack, and homework assistance. Some of AAI’s favorite residencies include: capoeira, moviemaking, puppetry and maskmaking, and screenprinting!
Youth Arts Blocks for Grades K-5 (Elementary)
Youth Arts Blocks are designed to offer comprehensive arts experience in a variety of disciplines for artists of all skill levels. Young artist can choose from beginner, intermediate, and advanced options or immerse themselves in different skill sets.
MiniCamps Grades K-5 (Elementary)
MiniCamps are arts camps offered on Carrboro Chapel Hill School teacher workdays and select holidays. Choose from half and full-day options!
Grades 6-8 (Middle School)
Youth Arts Blocks, Grades 6-8 (Middle School)
The Youth Arts Block for MiddleSchoolers offers innovative arts programming that includes performance and technology-based arts such as documentary filmmaking, music video making, animation, hip hop beatmaking, all made popular by today’s advances in media arts. We also offer the classics such as sewing, painting, and ceramics for teens interested in expanding their skills in those disciplines.
HOMESCHOOLERS
Arts for Homeschoolers
The ArtsCenter offers an ever-expanding roster of classes specifically designed to meet the arts curricula needs of area homeschoolers. These classes are offered mid-day at an affordable price so that homeschoolers can enjoy a well-rounded arts experience!

PWYC Workshops are offered the last 2 weeks of each semester and YOU name the price. Featuring a new 2-hour workshop each day, these workshops are designed to ensure that our entire community has access to quality arts programming at a price they can afford! AfterSchool (Full and Part-Time options!)
AfterSchool Arts Immersion is just that – an in-depth exploration of a variety of arts. We operate on the CHCCS schedule and run from 2:30-6pm Monday-Friday, except on holidays, school breaks and snow days. We are now pleased to offer Part-Time AfterSchool Arts Immersion options! Summer ArtsCamp
ArtsCamp and Summer Youth Workshops offer something for every artist, from rising Kindergartners to High School students. Little Camper programs are designed for children who will be entering K-1st grades in the fall after camp. ArtsFocus programs are for children entering 2nd-6th grades, and Summer Youth Workshops are for youth entering 7th-12th grades (unless otherwise noted.)

Enhancing Your Child’s Literacy Experiences!

As a parent, you are the first and most important teacher for your child, and it is often up to you to ensure your child finds pleasure in learning. Join us for this hands-on examination of books for elementary school students and learn playful methods to enhance your child’s literacy experiences.
Dancing Your Way Through Math!
Monday, June 3, 2013; 6-7:30pm
Teaching Artist: Katie Moorehead
Math and dance might seem like two different worlds, but they are more linked than you might think. Come dance, move and play to learn new strategies for improving your child’s math skills. This workshop will focus on understanding sequences- recognizing patterns, creating and manipulating a series of movements, and then understanding a variety of geometry math concepts. Through movement, you will learn to make number sequencing fun and make multiplication facts more exciting! No dance experience is needed, but be prepared to move around.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Each workshop is $10 (to be paid at the beginning of the workshop) and will take place at The ArtsCenter. You must register in advance by emailing The ArtsCenter’s Arts In Education Coordinator Tracy Thomas at artsineducation@artscenterlive.org. Please include your name, phone number and what you hope to get out of the workshop.
REFUND POLICIES:
YOUTH ART CLASSES REFUNDS:
All refund requests must be made in writing. You may email a refund request to afterschool@artscenterlive.org.
The ArtsCenter will retain a $10 processing fee on all registrations. When the course is held as scheduled, the refund policy is as follows:
* Full tuition refund (less $10 processing fee) up to one week prior to the first class meeting.
* 50% tuition refund (less $10 processing fee) during the week prior to the day of the first class meeting.
*The etix fee for registering online is non-refundable.
* SORRY, NO TUITION REFUNDS ONCE THE COURSE HAS STARTED.
AFTERSCHOOL ARTS IMMERSION (AAI) REFUNDS:
AAI requires a deposit of first and last month's tuition for enrollment. A 30 day written notice is required for withdrawal. The ArtsCenter will retain a $10 processing fee on all registrations.
