This class provides a complete introduction to oils, allowing students to discover the distinct expressive possibilities of this truly classic medium. No painting experience is required! We will cover fundamentals such as composition, color, tone and line, as well as the traditional techniques and processes involved in making an oil painting. Students will learn skills such as underpainting, glazing and scumbling, as well as how to mix and use mediums. This class will emphasize painting from life, but students will have the opportunity to choose their own subject for a final project.
