AfterSchool Arts Immersion



AfterSchool Arts Immersion is an arts-based after school program for young artists in grades K-5. AAI features a new artist residency every two weeks, full and part-time enrollment options, transportation from select schools, and supervised homework time in a fun, safe, and creative environment. A dedicated team of of AAI Assistants work alongside 20 professional teaching artists each year to provide students with meaningful and inspiring arts experiences in a variety of art forms, such as painting/mixed media, drawing, music, dance, theatre, STEAM, writing and storytelling. As of June 20, 2018:

Transportation WILL be provided from Carrboro Elementary, Northside Elementary, and McDougle Elementary. Transportation will likely be offered from Frank Porter Graham Bilingue Elementary and Glenwood Elementary as well, based on initial interest. This page will be updated as more schools are added, so please apply even if your child’s school is not yet confirmed.

MiniCamps are arts workshops held on CHCCS teacher workdays and select holidays. Half-day and full-day programs are available.  Each MiniCamp features classes with four professional teaching artists and a variety of art forms. Upcoming projects and themes include Handbuilding, Acrylic Painting, Drawing Techniques, Elements of Acting, and more. Reserve your spaces early!


2018-2019 MiniCamp Dates Coming Soon!

Registration for an AM and PM MiniCamp session includes lunchtime supervision at no charge, but The ArtsCenter does not provide lunch. Campers should pack a lunch and two snacks (one for the morning and one for the afternoon).

Extended care is also available at no charge, beginning at 8:30 AM (camp activities begin at 9 AM) and ending at 5 PM (camp activities end at 4 PM). During extended care periods, students will have supervised free play time.
