Johanna Hawfield Foster is a native North Carolinian who remained in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1997. She is a trained educator who believes in the transformative power of art to enhance learning and improve mental health. She currently serves as Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs at UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Data Science and Society. Johanna holds a B.A. in Spanish Education and a Master of Public Administration, both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She additionally holds a Master of Education from Harvard University.
