Wood – Mondays, Sep 13 – Oct 11, 6:30 – 8:30pm (In-Person)

In this course, students will learn the basics of botanical illustration. Students will use pencil and watercolor to sketch and paint still life images from nature. Botanical illustration is the accurate depiction of plants and plant traits (anything from a squash to a pinecone to an orchid!). Through careful observation, botanical illustration cultivates mindfulness and wonder towards the details found in living things. In the course, students will learn about sketching methods, composition, color mixing, and watercolor techniques. The five-week course is perfect as an intro to sketching and watercolor, or for anyone who wants to hone the art of seeing and depicting objects from the natural world.

In-person classes offered during the pandemic are conducted at a low maximum capacity and with social distancing measures in place. Masks must be worn at all times. Students are required to sign a liability waiver before attending in-person classes. Refunds and exchanges are not offered for in-person classes offered during the pandemic.

All ArtSchool registrations have a $3 processing fee added upon check-out.

ArtsCenter members receive 15% off the cost of this course!
