Build an Electroacoustic Percussion Instrument!

Class description: Are you curious about the nature of sound, music, art and building things with your own hands? Do you enjoy DIY projects and like to tinker? In this intensive instrument building workshop, veteran musician Jason Mullinax will show students how to construct and play their very own electroacoustic instrument. Watch the videos below to see some examples of these instruments in action! At the end of the session, students will be able to take their one-of-a-kind percussion instruments home to show off to their friends and family. Please note that participants will be using drills, saws, soldering irons, and other basic hand tools – so dress accordingly. All experience levels welcome and no previous musical background required.

Materials needed: Provided by instructor

Materials provided by: Instructor will collect materials and make them available for students; students will be required to bring a materials fee to the first class to reimburse the instructor

Age Range for this Class

All ArtSchool Classes are for 15 and up unless otherwise specified.

ArtSchool Class Enrollment Policy

Classes that do not meet the minimum enrollment within 3 business days of their start will be cancelled, and any purchased tuition will be fully refunded.

Exchange and Cancellation Policy

You may request a full refund up to 5 business days prior to the start date of your course. You may request a transfer of your enrollment up to 5 business days prior to the start date of your course. We do not process requested refunds or transfers within 5 business days of the start of a class, nor after the class has begun.

Scholarships

ArtSchool scholarships are given out on a semester-by-semester basis. Please fill out our online application here.

You may also download a copy (English) (Espanol) to print and fill out. Please submit these to the Box Office in an envelope addressed to ArtSchool Manager Anna Hewett.
