Eastman – Sundays, Jan 16-Feb 6, 10am-1pm (In-Person)

Want to learn to add unique designs to your pottery, or to transfer your drawings to ceramics? This four week workshop will incorporate drawing exercises to develop pattern and line, and cover a wide variety of techniques such as sgraffito, mishima, slip transfer, underglaze decals, and more to embellish leather-hard greenware with your designs. After bisque firing, we will discuss relevant glazing techniques to augment your surface design.

Instructor Bio:

Angela Eastman is an artist and designer residing in Hillsborough, North Carolina. She holds an MFA in Sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art and completed the Core Fellowship program at Penland School of Crafts. Her sculptural works explore the relationships between adaptability, consumption, and a sense of home. Angela teaches workshops to adults and youth in a wide variety of media, including basketweaving, ceramics, textiles, paper crafts, and metalworking.

In-person classes offered during the pandemic are conducted at a low maximum capacity and with social distancing measures in place. Masks must be worn at all times. Students are required to show instructors a proof of vaccination before attending in-person classes. Refunds and exchanges are not offered for in-person classes offered during the pandemic.
