Shumannfang – Thursdays, Jul 1-29, 10:30-11:30am (Online)
Exploring Mindfulness introduces creative ways of cultivating kind attention, so that we may respond rather than react amid life’s stress and joy. This brings greater steadiness and enlivens our sense of belonging. It is not about clearing the mind, but rather about seeing clearly to respond skillfully. Developed in South and Southeast Asia beginning over 2600 years ago, mindfulness practice does not require or exclude any belief system. All are welcome. Each meeting includes new topics, guided meditations, Q&A and tips for daily home practice. For beginners and those wishing to jumpstart their practice.
Who: Anyone affiliated with The ArtsCenter, such as staff, instructors, board, artists, members, visitors. No experience required. 3-12 participants welcome. Registration is required.
About the Instructor: Barbara Shumannfang, PhD (she/her) has been meditating in the Insight Meditation tradition since 2000. She is an experienced teacher and author, having enjoyed time in in the fields of German cultural studies and in professional dog training.
