Sometimes it can be a struggle to draw imagery on mugs or any three dimensional form. In this one-day workshop, we will explore drawing backgrounds, imagery, and patterns on paper with slips and transferring these renderings onto leather hard pots and soft slabs. We will use a wide palette of colored slips, use a variety of brushes and slip trailers, and talk about approaches to more intricate forms. We will talk about finishing bisqued surfaces but sometimes the printed surface requires minimal glazing and various fluxing washes can provide the perfect surface treatment for firing in electric/oxidation kilns. Recipes and information will be shared freely in this exploration of getting images from the paper to the pot!
