General handbuilding and sculpture techniques will be discussed and demonstrated. We will practice a few basic skills, and then students are encouraged to devise their own ideas for projects which I will work with them to plan and complete. (I will always have ideas for projects if you’re not sure what to make). Students are encouraged to try wheel throwing as well. Intermediate wheel students looking to refine their skills are welcome to focus solely on wheelthrowing. I will be available for wheel throwing demos during the second half of class. All students will be encouraged to explore colored slips, underglazes and creative glaze techniques for decorating.
