Illustration Techniques

Students will learn the basic principles of design, including brainstorming, sketching, and shading, using references if needed. Critique will be used to create dynamic final illustrations in different mediums. Students will create illustrations in 5 different mediums/techniques: graphite pencil, b&w acrylic, color acrylic, collage, and color pencils. Bilingual class: Spanish-speaking students welcome!

The instructor is fluent in Spanish & English.

Required Materials*: Pencil (2B preferred), Letter Size Bond Paper, Eraser, Small tube of Matte Medium, Acrylic Paints: Cobalt Blue, Cadmium Red, Cadmium Yellow, Titanium White, Mars Black or if you choose to mix your black: Winsor Blue, Van Dyk Brown. (Not Required: Deep turquoise, Rose Pink). Brushes, variety pack should have enough. 4 X Letter Size Illustration board, container for water, paper towels/rags, palette, mixing knife, scissors, magazines or cut outs with images. Colored Pencils. *if you are not interested in doing one of these mediums/techniques that material would not be required.
