Eastman – Tuesdays, Sep 14-Oct 26 6-9 pm (In-person)
This 7-week class will introduce the timeless and versatile art of basketweaving, and give students the skills to construct beautiful woven vessels. We will focus on weaving with flat and round reed and build on basic skills to incorporate patterns and individual twists. Students will consider functionality and design during the class, and will leave with baskets perfect for gathering, storing, and sharing!
Angela Eastman is an artist and designer residing in Hillsborough, North Carolina. She holds an MFA in Sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art and completed the Core Fellowship program at Penland School of Crafts. Her sculptural works explore the relationships between adaptability, consumption, and a sense of home. Angela teaches workshops to adults and youth in a wide variety of media, including basketweaving, ceramics, textiles, paper crafts, and metalworking.
Participants should bring $25 cash or check payable to the instructor on the first day of class to cover the fee for class materials.
In-person classes offered during the pandemic are conducted at a low maximum capacity and with social distancing measures in place. Masks must be worn at all times. Refunds and exchanges are not offered for in-person classes offered during the pandemic.
