On Saturday, December 5th, Tim Carless presents A Dog’s Life, the final film in his series of Charlie Chaplin live-scores streaming the first Saturday of October, November and December 2020.

A Dog’s Life, from 1918, marks the beginning of a new chapter for Charlie Chaplin. It’s his first film for First National. He’d signed with the studio the year before, for the extraordinary sum of $1,000,000. It’s also the first time that he is joined onscreen by his brother Sydney Chaplin. Once again Edna Purviance plays opposite Chaplin as he tries to win her attentions and her heart. The other star of the film being Scraps, an adorable dog, who offers companionship and proves to an invaluable foil to some less than honorable folks that The Tramp encounters along the way. A Dog’s Life is just 33 minutes long.
