Auditioning is a skill all its own. Imagine the entire audition is your own one-act play, which begins with your entrance and ends with your exit. It is a combination of “presentation of self,” and “presentation of material.” The best way to feel confident at an audition is through experience and commitment to preparation. Directors/ Casting Directors/Agents, etc… are looking for smart actors who make specific choices. They are looking for confidence, professionalism, and a positive personality. During an audition you should be prepared, feel good about your work, and most important, HAVE A GOOD TIME! The course will begin with games, improvisations and scripts to further build acting techniques in preparation for monologue study, and cold readings. Monologues will be chosen to best suit the actor for auditions. Students will then go through the acting process through the exploration of text work, continually developing their characters, making specific effective choices, and finding truthful behavior on stage.
