Lee Edwards is an interdisciplinary movement artist who works in sound, dance, performance, poetry, and video. They recently graduated from Duke University with an MFA in Dance: Embodied Interdisciplinary Praxis and a Masters Certificate in African and African American Studies. Lee has been dancing professionally in Durham, Philly, and NYC for the last nine years.

Class description: An invitation to explore movement via improvisational practice in an open level workshop. This space is open to all people, bodies, and experiences and will center BlaQueer & Trans realities of being and community. This class will be facilitated by Ayan Felix (they/them) & Lee Edwards (they/them) two graduates of Duke’s MFA in Dance. We are offering a space to dance in community and an introduction to improvisation. This could be a space to explore choreographic impulses or integrating movement into your current creative practice. We will not be instructing contact improvisation.
Questions:
How do we enter into improvisational movement (functionally, emotionally, socially)?
Where can pleasure lead us?
What does dancing in a group require of us?
Where is the beat? Where is the break?

Materials needed: Paper to write on/notebook, writing utensil and comfortable clothing they can move in.

Materials provided by: Students will be responsible for collecting and bringing their own materials to class

Refund and Exchange Policy
You may request a full refund up to 5 business days prior to the start date of your course. You may request a transfer of your enrollment up to 5 business days prior to the start date of your course. We do not process requested refunds or transfers within 5 business days of the start of a class, nor after the class has begun.
