Wellington – Thursdays, May 13 – June 3, 3-5pm
99 is the latest trend in personal narrative storytelling (GRIT, along with Chicago-based Story Jam, helped develop the form!) In this workshop, you’ll discover how to identify, craft and tell 99s for…
- pitches
- slams
- interviews
- dates
- sales
- speeches
You’ll learn how to craft and tell a full story—with an arc and narrative structure—while keeping people engaged and entertained by applying core components of a personal story in this exciting (and challenging) form…
- Starting & Stopping
- Conflict & Stakes
- Transitions & Scenes
- Details & Depth
- Discovery & Surprise
- Inner Voice & Dialogue
- Heart & Humor
We will work on one (or two) stories for three weeks (six hours), and conclude with a student showcase, where you can tell your story/stories to a (virtual) live audience.
You can see examples of 99s from past slams: youtube.com/channel/UClUL4Obm0NEeM-4eGZ9u65g
