Kathleen Pace– Saturdays, Nov 5 – Nov 19, 10am – 2pm

Who is this class for?

This workshop is perfect for the person who wants to learn how to tell their story through creative imagery and short video clips. Open to all Levels.

The images you create in this workshop will be personal to you. Think of it as a kind of “Personal Branding” exercise. We will create authentic self-portraits that will allow you to see yourself in a new way, with self-love. You will learn to see light, color and shadow, to artfully capture your surroundings.

.

What will students learn, and how will they learn it?

This is a four hour class that will meet once a week on Saturdays for 3 weeks total. In this class, students will learn the foundations of creating beautiful images – light direction, composition, framing, layering, and more. They will also learn about posing, as they will be their own subject. They will learn how to use the camera settings on their phone to create the best images, and how to move these images into an editing app, save them, and create compelling layouts that tell their story. Students will then complete a few thought-provoking exercises using these images. These exercises will allow students to visualize who they are in pictures. At the end of the workshop, students will have a gorgeous book on their phone with edited images that they took during the workshop. They will also have an opportunity to explore free stock photography and learn how they can use stock images to enhance their story telling.

.

What equipment and materials will be needed?

A Phone Camera is needed. Students should already understand the features of their phones, how to access and use their general camera settings, and know how to look up and download an app. Students have an option to bring a few small things that hold meaning to them. For example, natural objects like leaves, feathers or flowers; or items that represent family history.
