Transactors Improv presents Sock-Hop Obsession, featuring musical guest Dex Romweber, as the company’s annual show focusing on suspense, horror, and creepiness. Dana Marks joins the regular Transactors cast for this unscripted performance based on audience suggestions.
It’s just an innocent high-school dance. Or is it? See what compulsions and desires beat in the hearts of the students and maybe even within teachers and administrators. Sock-Hop Obsession is a visit to a more wholesome era when the primal and weird were repressed but still oozed out around the seams.
“It will be good, weird fun and very different from your average improv show,” says director Greg Hohn. “Giving the audience a case of the willies is always a great time and Dex Romweber’s talent and intensity will add a whole new dimension to that mission.”
Now in its 37th season, Transactors Improv creates improvisational theater with an emphasis on emotional reality, three-dimensional characters, compelling storylines, and physicality.
Romweber (guitar and vocals) will be joined by Bob Pence (saxophone), Dave Schmitt (drums), and Mark Simonsen (piano). The cast for Sock-Hop Obsession includes special guest Dana Marks along with Anoo Brod, Greg Hohn, Bart Hubbard, Steven Warnock, and Jane Allen Wilson. Jenn Evans handles technical effects.
