Explore the possibilities of a single piece of paper!
In this class, students will work on an embroidery sampler together over 6 weeks. They will learn a variety of embroidery stitches by stitching together and following the pattern on a Dropcloth Sampler.
In this course, we will use traditional weaving techniques and non-traditional materials to create both sculptural and functional vessels. There will be instruction in methods of weaving and netting with adjustments for different material tensions. Bring your plastic bags, random bits of rope, scrap wood and more! Class is beginner friendly and open to all levels.
Students will learn how to warp the loom, and explore techniques such as tabby, twinging, soumak, rya loops, and rya knots. This class will cover color choices, varying yarn types and textures, finishing and removing from the loom, and how to hang your piece.

This beginner course is designed to introduce participants to the truly magical world of natural indigo dyeing. Students will learn shibori dyeing techniques and walk through the process of preparing fabric for dyeing. They will create several samples and a beautiful finished scarf to take home and enjoy for years to come.
Learn the history and practice of sashiko hand-stitching, a technique born of Boro style mending which has become a widely appreciated art form. Sashiko has found its way into modern culture through the act of visible mending.
