In this course we will focus on creating a set of functional pottery. Depending on your skill level, this may be a set of cups, bowls, mugs, or plates. Or maybe a pair of candlesticks? Your set(s) may include two or more matching pieces and you will get to establish your definition of “matching.” This is an intermediate level course.
Intended for students who have taken a pottery class, or made pottery, in the last year.
Beginners are welcome in this class where we will examine the steps necessary for creating on the potter’s wheel.
Want to gain confidence in your drawing ability? Take this class to learn about form and shape, how objects relate to one another in space, how to indicate value and tone, and how to lay out a composition.
This class will focus on using improv tools to be fully engaged in the moment, create incredible teamwork, and enhance creative thinking -- all in the back-drop of fun, games and laughter.
Students will learn how to warp the loom, and explore techniques such as tabby, twinging, soumak, rya loops, and rya knots. This class will cover color choices, varying yarn types and textures, finishing and removing from the loom, and how to hang your piece.
3 hour session dedicated to multiple poses by the model, starting with short (gesture) poses and moving onto longer (20 min.) poses.
