Ceramics Studio
About
Welcome to the ArtsCenter's Ceramic Studio! The Ceramics studio at TAC is 30 years old! We have a dedicated staff of teachers and volunteers who are excited to help you along your pottery journey. We invite you to take wheel or handbuilding classes with us. After taking a class here you can join as open studio member to come and make on your hours. We make 25 glazes inhouse, have quick firing turnarounds and fire to cone 5.

How to Register
You can register in one of three ways:
1. Register online on the ArtSchool tab of our website: www.artscenterlive.org
2. Call our main line at 919-929-2787 during our business hours to register over the phone with a credit or debit card
3. Come visit us during business hours and our staff will be happy to help you register. We can accept card, cash, or checks in person.
Many classes fill quickly, so we recommend registering in advance to reserve your spot. Classes with low enrollment will be canceled 1-3 days prior to the start of the class. In these cases we will process a full refund and notify enrolled students via email. Please note that checks should be made payable to The ArtsCenter. A $25 service charge is applied to returned checks.
Some classes have supply lists. However, we encourage students to confirm the minimum enrollment of their class before purchasing materials. We will typically notify enrolled students about the status of a class 3 days prior to the start of the class. The ArtsCenter cannot be held responsible for materials purchased for a canceled class.

Workshops and Events
Slip Decoration Workshop with Jake Goodnight - Saturday March 1st 1:30-5:30
This workshop will focus on using slip decoration techniques to enhance your ceramic surfaces. Contrasting or colored slips will be used for inlay and newspaper transfers allowing for detailed decoration. Brushstrokes, finger strokes, and tool movements will be rendered on your pot's surface in textured slip to capture motion. Tape resist, wax resist, and stains will bring out surface details. Hands-on experience in a variety of techniques give a good starting point for diving deeper into the world of slip decoration. Students should plan to bring at least 4 smooth surfaced leather hard pieces to the workshop to make the most of the class and should take advantage of the open studio time prior to the workshop to prepare their pieces. Enrolled students will have access to open studio February 22nd through March 11 to work on their 4 pieces.
