1+1: Fine Art Photography by Philip M. Rosoff in the Corridor Gallery

October 2, 2019

Opening Reception: Friday, October 11th
From 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

“I have been interested in photography as a medium of personal exploration and expression for a number of years.  Recently, I have begun to develop a more in-depth involvement in the art of what is possible, not only in the camera in terms of composition, technique, etc., but also in the darkroom as I have extended my range to include printing all my images.  I am interested in people and objects as an observer – one might call me a street photographer (even when I am photographing nature) – and I like to think of myself as an unobtrusive spectator, attempting to capture (in my limited way) the “decisive moment”.  My prints are made from digital negatives by a contact process using either silver gelatin fiber-based papers or a variety of platinum-palladium processes using heavy weight watercolor 100% rag cotton water color papers.  All of my prints are 8 x 10 inches.  The current images are from an ongoing project that I call “1 + 1”, two people or objects that are sometimes connected and sometimes not, but that find themselves in close juxtaposition in my viewfinder.  For the human subjects, they may not even aware of each other’s presence and whose association may only be within the frame of the pictures I take.”
