Suite Queer explores Queer life and history through music and multi-media, dance and performance art. It is an invitation to people inside and outside the Queer Community to meet, hear one person’s experience and understand that what separates us is much less than what unites us.
For those outside the community, the hope is that this deeply personal look into Queer life will give insight and engender empathy and alliances.
For the Queer Community, the hope is that you will see yourself and your experiences or learn about the lives of those who came before you.
Come laugh, cry, hope, dance and experience loving acceptance.
Suite Queer is a celebration of our longevity, resilience and depth, but most of all, it announces that we’re here and we’re Queer and we’re dazzling.
Lisa R began her career in Austin, sharing the stage both locally and nationally with artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joan Jett, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Joe Ely. She also performed and recorded with The Neville Brothers, co-writing a song, “The Dealer,” included on two of their CDs. Lisa moved to Durham in 2012.
About The ArtsCenter Concerts
This is a seated show. The (new) ArtsCenter has a beer and wine bar, snacks and a water station (bring your own bottle or ask for an eco cup!). We have plenty of parking around back and on a second level down the street a few yards. Please come around to the BACK of the building to enter the Theater.
