Returning to the Icelandic landscape left behind by her great-great-grandparents in 1888, Til Íslands (meaning To Iceland, in Icelandic) documents the delicate experience of the filmmaker’s re-connection with a land and people in the midst of dramatic environmental change. Shot on 16mm film, along with camera-less imagery created by placing plants, seaweed, and wool directly on the film, this experimental documentary short invites viewers into a conversation between past and present, in which the plants, animals, water, and people of the landscape all take part.
