The ArtsCenter is partnering with UNC’s student radio station WXYC-Chapel Hill to bring together 5 fantastic local music acts to bring the community together in support of Siembra NC. The event will begin at 2PM.
About the event:
This concert is all about raising money and awareness for and alongside our friends at @siembranc! If you’re not familiar, Siembra NC are a grassroots organization focused on defending our communities from abusive employers and landlords, ICE, and bad políticos. Proof of a donation to their organization will be your ticket in the door to hear the great bands lined up to play.
There will be merch for sale from the artists, sponsor WXYC, and the ArtsCenter as well as opportunities to craft your own merch using our Makerspace and linocut designs!
Food Not Bombs Carrboro @fnb_carrboro will be bringing free food to the event around dinner time, so come through for some munchies!
DJs will also be mixing in the theater in between sets to keep the energy moving and your feet dancing 🙂
About the artists:
Também @tambemband is Durham-based trio Ingrid Nora Knight @_ingridnora_ , Andy Powell @asharpp36 , and Gastón Reggio @gaston.reggio who perform together with a playful, rhythmic, and hypnotic samba-jazz sound utilizing keyboard, bass, drums, and occasional Portuguese and English vocals.
Nathan Bowles @piganklestrut is a Hillsborough-based banjo virtuoso / keyboard player / tape manipulator who plays in traditional and improvisational styles.
Raleigh’s own Charlie Paso @charliepaso are a post-hardcore / emo duo discharging the loud sounds of love into the aether through jagged guitar distortion and insatiable kick drum patterns.
Renzo Ortega @renzoortegaart is a Peruvian Carrboro-based painter and art instructor at the ArtsCenter. He will be playing an electroacoustic blend of techno, spoken word, and noise.
Verity Den @verityden is Casey Proctor @haruspexpalace , Mike Wallace @mykoalas , Reed Benjamin @calapse_music , & @trevoreece — Carrboro’s droning darlings are rounding up the afternoon by dumping you into a churning bath of warped guitar harmonies, ethereal vocals, and pure charisma.

Siembra is a grassroots organization focused on defending our communities from abusive employers and landlords, ICE, and bad políticos. They operate primarily in Alamance, Durham, Forsyth, Guilford, Orange, Wake, Randolph and Rockingham counties, and have active members around the state. With & without papers we are making moves to create the North Carolina our gente deserves.

WXYC 89.3 FM is the non-commercial student-run radio station of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We broadcast at 1100 watts from the student union on the UNC campus, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our coverage area encompasses approximately 900 square miles in and around Chapel Hill, Durham, Pittsboro, Apex, and parts of Raleigh.
About The ArtsCenter
TAC provides seated shows. We have a nice wine, beer and cider bar with soft drinks and snacks. We do not sell water but you can bring your own, or your own bottle to fill, or ask for an eco cup. We also use COMPOST NOW for all compost products.
