Joel Hopler is a North Carolina–based multidisciplinary artist and community maker who lives in Chapel Hill. His work and community involvement reflect a commitment to fostering creative connections across the Triangle. He serves as a Technical Supervisor with BeAM (Be A Maker) at UNC Chapel Hill, where he supports students, faculty, and community members in creative fabrication, digital design, and hands-on making within university makerspaces. In this role, Joel bridges art, technology, and mentorship to expand access to collaborative creative tools.

    As a visual artist, Joel’s painting practice explores remix culture, collaboration, and family narratives through a blend of digital and traditional media. He earned a BFA from UNC Charlotte and an MFA from UNC Chapel Hill. Joel cares deeply about building inclusive artistic communities and supporting organizations that function as cultural anchors. His involvement with The ArtsCenter reflects his belief in art as a connective force within everyday community life.
