About The Willie Painter Band
Playing a mix of danceable blues with a nod towards swinging jazz and an eclectic selection of rock and pop tunes, the Willie Painter Band consists of four veterans of the North Carolina music scene.
Willie Painter (guitar) and Craig Dittmar (bass) were members of the Boomers, who played for over 20 years in the Triangle and eastern North Carolina. They have performed in the past with Lightnin’ Wells and the Real Gone Cats. Currently they also play with Nancy Middleton, the Pigz Brothers, Mike Hamer and the Rhinoceroses, and the Tommy G Experience. Painter wrote a monthly music column for the Urban Hiker from 1999 to 2004.
Bill Newton (saxophone, harmonica) is a founding member of three Triangle musical institutions: Rebecca and the Hi-Tones, Bill Newton’s Big Blues Quartet, and the Duke Street Dogs. He has recorded with the Indigo Girls and Big Mama E and the Cool, among others, and toured extensively with singer/songwriter, Jon Shain.
John Hanks (drums), has played with many Triangle bands, ensembles, and artists since the 1970’s, in all styles of rock, jazz, classical, dance, and musical theater. Recent appearances include: Mel Melton & the Wicked Mojos, Jim Quick & the Coastline Band, Atomic Rhythm All Stars, Second Line Stompers, and Queen Bee & the Honeylovers. He still holds down a day job as full-time music director for the Duke University Dance Program, and is a long time musician with the American Dance Festival and NC Youth Tap Ensemble.
About The ArtsCenter Dance Parties
All TAC shows have seating available. The Dance Parties have both seating and the NEW Marley dance floor available. All you need are your dancin’ shoes and/or your body. We do the rest!
About The ArtsCenter
The (NEW) ArtsCenter is located at 400 Roberson St. Carrboro NC. ArtsCenter Dance Parties have seating and space for dancing. We have a bar with wine, beer, and snacks. We also have water stations where you can fill up your own water bottle or if you need an eco cup, just ask! We do not charge for water. The ArtsCenter is now working regularly with COMPOST NOW and recycling all beverage products.
The ArtsCenter’s Dance Parties are pure fun and great music as well as great communing. These events include a seating area, as well as a dance floor.
