Meet Our Gallery Interns

The ArtsCenter “Meet the Interns”

Hi! My name is Isabelle, and I’m one of The ArtsCenter’s gallery interns this fall. I am a senior at UNC with a Italian and European history major and an art history minor.

First question: Why were you interested in the internship?

I was interested in this internship because I wanted to get experience working in a gallery and more closely with artists! I heard about it through the Art History department and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work in the community.

Second question: What is your favorite part of the galleries/The ArtsCenter and why?

My favorite part of the galleries at The ArtsCenter is how they feature local artists and the work by the kid’s groups. I appreciate how the staff craft an inclusive atmosphere and help the children see the things they’ve created alongside work from accomplished artists. It gives them pride in their work and fosters their creativity, which is always important in young kids. My elementary school had our art featured in a gallery, and I can say it definitely contributed to my love and appreciation for art!

Third question: Who is your favorite artist/what is your favorite art style?

I would have to say my favorite artist is John Singer Sargent and I love impressionism!

Hi! My name is Brynn Hutchison and I’m one of The ArtsCenter’s gallery interns this fall. I am a senior at UNC double majoring in Advertising/PR and Psychology, and minoring in Studio Art.

First question: Why were you interested in the internship?

I was interested in an internship with The ArtsCenter because as an Advertising/PR major, I have to use creative thinking to succeed. I have always loved creating art (I’m a big oil painter) and this was the perfect way to combine working towards my future goals with a hobby I love.

Second question: What is your favorite part of the galleries/The ArtsCenter and why?

I enjoy The ArtsCenter galleries because they are an awesome way to meet people in the community. It is a wonderful thing to see so many people gathered to appreciate the artwork made by their friends, family, and neighbors. I also greatly admire The ArtsCenter’s mission and appreciate how they impact the Carrboro/Chapel Hill area. Every person should have the opportunity to be creative!

Third question: Who is your favorite artist/what is your favorite art style?

My favorite artist would have to be Goya, because I got the opportunity to see many of his works in the Prado recently. In contrast, Rococo painting is currently my favorite style.
