The Crying Uncle Show is the result of TAC thinking October 3rd was a good date for our annual fundraiser. What were we thinking???

Shakori, Wide Open Bluegrass, Notre Dame Football at UNC (I know right?) and various other events have made it clear we needed to change the date for our Big Night at the Lil’ Ole Opry. So we did just that. It’s next April 10th 2027.

But then some of the musicians thought “Wait a minute! We can still play. We’ve worked countless hours…” Well, maybe not countless…they’ve worked and rehearsed A LOT.  So, we’re doing the first (and possibly the only) annual Crying Uncle Show on Saturday, Oct 3rd from 7-9pm. We’re raffling DPAC VIP tickets to some lucky country music lover. AND we have the Two the Only, Duke LaCrosse and Pinky Wyoming, on the bill. They make RARE appearances in the area, as country music fans the world over are already aware.

A woman in a pink hat stands next to a bearded man in sunglasses and a hat, holding a guitar.

And then, of course, they will be sharing the stage with not quite AS famous musical stars, including:

*David Burney – the closest thing to Johnny Cash we’ll ever see in our lifetimes and a heck of a smart and great human.

A man sits on a chair in a café, holding an acoustic guitar, with a blurred mural in the background.

*Jennifer Curtis – she can play a fiddle, yes, she can! In fact, she can play anything with strings on it.

A person sits on a stool holding a violin in a sunlit room with large windows and wooden floors.

*Knee Deep – Rocky Kramm, Dave Smith and that Rebecca Newton girl. A Trio with two amazing guitar pickers and then there’s Rebecca, who can sing a little. They have the best harmonies this side of Schley, NC.

*Karen Kalafatas – sitting in with somebody somewhere on something!

Smiling woman in a black-and-white striped shirt playing an acoustic guitar outdoors.

You don’t want to miss this one! It may not happen again until, (thinking), April 10th 2027.  Think of it as a musical mini-Gala. A Gala warm-up!

Come see us and we’ll each yell “Uncle!” – that’s a promise.

The ArtsCenter shows are (almost always) seated. We have a nice bar with wine, beer, cider, soft drinks, snacks and always free water. If you need special assistance, please do contact us at boxoffice@artscenterlive.org or 919.929.2787 and we’ll be sure to accommodate you as best as we can.
