Spotlight on Silent Auction Artist Amanda Charest

“A native of North Carolina, I have been painting since I was a child & have been lucky enough to study both at home & abroad. My work has been displayed in several galleries over the years, the most recent being Spirit Square in uptown Charlotte & in the ArtsCenter as an emerging artist.

“My work is a reflection of me, sometimes eclectic & unusual while other times joyfully ordinary.
I prefer watercolor with the addition of gouache & ink. I also enjoy acrylics.  I do a lot of research on my chosen topic before I can start anything. Then there is a long period of messing the whole thing up & trying to fix it, a cycle that can go on for weeks. Eventually I can call a project finished, but it usually takes a great deal of effort to know when to walk away.”

Amanda has generously donated an original watercolor to The ArtsCenter’s Silent Auction, on display throughout the month of June in the Nicholson Gallery.  To place a bid for this work, visit our box office  or call us at (919) 929-2787.  Bids starting at $100 will be accepted until 5PM on June 28th.
