Mary Ann Anderson exhibited extensively at community galleries in Illinois for 20 years before moving to Chapel Hill in 2008. Her work on paper is available through Pierogi Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. She has presented exhibits at the Ackland Museum Store in Chapel Hill, Duke University’s Brown Gallery in Durham, Meredith College in Raleigh, Durham Art Guild, The ArtsCenter of Carrboro, and in Raleigh at Visual Art Exchange (VAE), Artspace and HagerSmith Design. She was recently included in UNC Pembroke’s 5th International Exhibition.
Her art studies have included classes at Ox-Bow, a program of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Penland School of Craft in North Carolina.
“My work is influenced by Asian art and its emphasis on the ephemeral nature of all things. The paintings and participatory installations are also influenced by contemporary abstract and conceptual art.”
Mary Ann has generously donated an original drawing to The ArtsCenter’s Silent Auction, on display throughout the month of June in the Nicholson Gallery. To place a bid for this artwork, visit our box office or call us at (919) 929-2787. Bids starting at $50 will be accepted until 5PM on June 28th.
