Jim Rodgers was born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland. His university background is in the Sciences, specifically in Chemistry (Queens University, Belfast) and X-ray Crystallography (Iowa State University). The ability to deduce a 3-D molecular structure from a diffraction pattern still seems miraculous.
Jim worked for many years for Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY. He learned about the wonderful properties of light and how to design better Color Negative films, first in Kodak Research in England and then in Rochester. His time at Kodak allowed him to understand how color works and the rules for blending dyes and pigments. He started painting seriously about 25 years ago.
