The Art Therapy Institute of NC (ATI) is an organization of mental health professionals dedicated to the healing power of the arts. ATI provides clinical art therapy services to diverse populations across the Triangle and Triad areas of North Carolina, empowering clients to develop, explore, strengthen, and express their identities through the art-making process.

Our current programs take place in local schools, hospitals, assisted living facilities, health clinics, and other community-based agencies. Our more than 500 clients include refugees and immigrants from across the world; children with exceptional needs; children living with chronic illness; elders living with dementia and Alzheimers; adults living with mental illness; families experiencing homelessness; survivors of domestic violence; veterans; and others.

ATI also offers training and supervision to allied professionals; implements ethical, community-based research practices, and seeks to raise awareness in the general community about our profession and the benefits of arts-based therapy.

At ATI, we believe the expressive arts can transcend languages and cultures, evoke healing, increase communication and collaboration, and empower both individuals and communities to reach their highest potential.
