The ArtsCenter is sponsoring a food drive with all donated items going to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Please drop by your non-perishable food and other needed items to The ArtsCenter, or consider donating online. The food drive will run from Friday, October 11 through the end of the year.

Why are we starting a food drive at this time? North Carolina recently stopped issuing WIC vouchers, supposedly because of the federal government shutdown. WIC Vouchers provide formula and food to at-risk infants, young children and expectant mothers. North Carolina is the only state so far to have stopped issuing vouchers during the federal government shutdown.
The ArtsCenter then decided to start this food drive. Although NC has since resumed issuing WIC vouchers, we still see the need to help out our local Food Banks whose supplies are still low partly because of delays in needy families receiving state assistance.
