Who Announces the End? – curated by UNC seniors Laurel Petri and Marin Carr-Quimet
Featuring work that embraces leisure, play, and irreverence as a form of resistance.
It centers around work that critically considers and reflects on our relationships to the external world and the capitalist and colonial systems of violence and suffering that create anti-playful and anti-community structures. These works both prefigure new ways of connecting with the world and pose questions of what matters to us moving forward.
How do we center play and joy in artistic process?
How can we reframe leisure and play so it is not something that has to be worked hard for and earned?
How can we prioritize life against the death drive of a capitalistic society?
How do we connect to the world outside of ourselves through love, rest, and humor?
How can these things help us heal towards a collective future?
Featuring local artists; Skully Gustafson, Anna Lee, Chris Musina, Maya Rampel, and Sam Levi Sizemore.
